Terms of Service (template)
Template — finalise with counsel before GA.
Last updated: 2 May 2026.
These Terms govern your use of the Citera service. By signing up you agree to them.
1. The service
Citera is a B2B AI content engine. We generate articles, audit them for information gain, publish them to your CMS, and track AI-assistant citations.
2. Plans and billing
Pricing is published at https://citera.eu/#pricing. All amounts are in EUR. Stripe processes payments. VAT is added where applicable. You can cancel any month from the Stripe customer portal.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Citera to:
- Generate content that violates third-party intellectual property rights.
- Generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or that incites violence.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or rate-limit-evade the service.
- Resell the service without a written reseller agreement.
4. Customer content & ownership
You retain all rights to documents you upload and to articles Citera generates from them. We retain rights to the platform, the prompts, and aggregate non-identifying usage statistics.
We do not train any AI model on Customer Content.
5. AI-generated content disclaimer
Articles are generated by large language models with web-research and your first-party data as input. We audit for information gain but cannot guarantee factual accuracy of every claim. You are responsible for reviewing each article before approving and publishing it. The information-gain veto is a safety net, not a guarantee.
6. Service level
We target 99.9% uptime for the web app and 99.5% for the agent runtime. Scheduled maintenance (rare) will be announced 48 hours in advance.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the fees paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
8. Termination
You may terminate at any time via the customer portal. We may terminate for material breach (with 30 days to cure) or immediately for fraudulent or abusive use.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [Member State to be specified] and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
10. Changes
We will notify you of material changes 30 days in advance via email.
